Adapting my blog for the remainder of 2020 with a hint of what’s to come.

I am so sick of hearing about and talking about COVID and yet here I am once again opening a blog post with the very same subject. With the latest fears of a second wave in the UK and the news that we are going to have restrictions in place for at least another 6 months, I have realised that I need to make some changes to my blog. I need to adapt my blog for the remainder of 2020 at least.

At the moment I can’t write about travel or industry stuff as much because I am not travelling anywhere at all and I have just left my job as a talent agent.

Of course, I am still involved in the industry as I am the Mum of a child actor, who has been really busy with self-tape castings over the last couple of weeks. All of that is highly confidential and can’t be talked about, so not much to say on that front (Sorry).

Crossroads sign

Once again I find myself ‘at a crossroads’ in my blog direction but this time it all seems to make sense because I had already found the answer.

I have been using the tag line ‘Simply Living ~ Living Simply’ for a couple of months on my blog, but the penny hadn’t really dropped until this weekend.

It is time for me to stop searching and looking because it is all right here in front of me.

It was March when the UK went into a Full Lockdown, and since then this is exactly what I have been doing; Simply Living and Living Simply because I really can’t do anything else.

The strange thing is this ‘new normal‘ is what I have been craving all along. After all, this is why I started my blog all those years ago. To journal my every day, to journal the normality of life. My life. Not to be compared to anyone else, because I am me and I am unique in my own way.

The freedom to write what I want, when I want, without fear of not fitting in. Because I have accepted that I don’t fit in. I am my own style and shape and I am the puzzle piece for my own jigsaw.

(This is the biggest piece of cheese I have ever written and George, I know you will be laughing at this blog).

Making and accepting this direction has been a long time coming and necessary for me to continue to develop this blog and for me to fall in love with writing again like I did when I was a young girl.

This in turn gives me freedom. Freedom in creativity to me means that it happens when it happens. Sometimes I get an idea and I HAVE to go and write it down immediately. When I write a blog post, I free write and don’t stop until I press publish. This is what I love about writing.

Wherever I am there will inevitably be a camera not far from my side. I love photography, I love capturing memories, I always have. Photography evokes such a fire in me. So I have enrolled in an Open University short course in photography to give my passion a bit of time. It can only improve what I already know and help me to create more beautiful images for my blog and my Instagram account.

If you want to follow me on Instagram I would love that. Come and say hello.

I am SO excited that they have made a NEW version of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. Having loved this programme growing up, to see it made again has made my soul sing.

It brings me so much joy seeing the Yorkshire Dales on the screen. My Great Uncle George and Auntie Annie had a farm in a small village called ‘West Burton’ in North Yorkshire. We had many holidays staying with them and I have such fond memories of their lifestyle, the food, the baking and the farming.

And as for the FASHION!!!! I LOVE IT. Genuinely I actually sent links to a friend of mine of the female characters because I looked at the fashion and declared ‘This is Me‘.

I am talking about fashion here. You see, I am individual and quirky and am so drawn to fashions from period dramas and this programme is bringing all the vintage fashion feels to me reminding me of who I am.

Just look at the amazing dress that actress Maime McCoy wore on This Morning. She was baking in that amazing dress. This is truly how I see myself. Dressed up covered in flour baking.

Every single time somebody likes one of my posts or follows one of my social media accounts shares one of my blog posts or signs up to my email list I do a happy dance. This may seem silly and simple, but that is the only way a creative like me gets seen. It is also the only way that I know you are there. Whilst I am a natural introvert, I do love being social. Please come and say hello.

I am really looking forward to sharing the rest of 2020 with you, lets make it good.
